Two dear friends and housemates who received Technics as a housewarming gift has evolved into a DJ duo named Mudfat. A shared love for Acid House, Deep House, Minimal, Dub, Slow Grooves and Reggae results in a ‘mudfat’ groovy and eclectic sound.

Mudfat has made a name for themselves by shaking up the after party’s at Mysteryland, doing crazy all nighters at Skatecafe & Wibar Leiden and playing long chillout sets at Thuishaven.

(Mudfat is a litteral translation of the Dutch word “moddervet”. “mud-fat” or “mud-thick” in English, it’s used as slang to describe something that is super cool, awesome, or incredibly good. It conveys a sense of heaviness or richness in a positive way, much like the word “phat” in English slang when describing music, style, or something impressive.

In the context of music, “moddervet” can imply that the sound is deep, rich, and full-bodied—packed with bass, groove, and energy. It’s often used to describe music genres like dub, house, or reggae, where the sound feels “thick” and immersive. It’s a playful, expressive term to praise something exceptional or exciting!)
