FAQ

What will happen in 2026?

We are taking a break in 2026, a creative pause to shape the future. We will be back in 2027.

Why are you taking a break?

The main reason for taking a step back is the need for a future-proof concept – and the time and mental space required to develop that. Creating something completely new and innovative is nearly impossible when also running a full-scale festival production simultaneously.

As the world’s longest-standing dance festival, we feel a strong responsibility to deliver the absolute best to our fans: boundary-pushing production, unexpected stages and décor, innovative shows, and top-tier artists – all set on the most beautiful festival grounds of the Netherlands. That high bar, combined with the sharp rise in costs over the past few years, has led to a situation that’s no longer sustainable. Since the pandemic, nearly all hard event costs have doubled – from production materials to beverage supplies and staffing. On top of that, visitor preferences are shifting at a rapid pace. Revolutionary ideas and bold decisions are needed, and these can only be realized by taking the time and space to rethink the concept from the ground up.

Over the past 32 years, Mysteryland has undergone many transformations, and now it’s time for the next one.

Statement on ownership Mysteryland

Update May 22nd:
Together with our fellow festivals, we have expressed our dissatisfaction about KKR to Superstruct. This has led to the following commitment:
All profits from Mysteryland, and other festivals within Superstruct, will not flow to our investors, including KKR. Instead, all profits will be used to support the development of these festivals. We are working on the practical implementation of this commitment.

Update May 19th:
As pioneers of electronic music festivals, Mysteryland has been a place of freedom for over 30 years. Rooted in the belief that house music celebrates every form of self-expression, we create a universe of worlds where everyone is free to be themselves.

As a connecting factor between numerous partners and communities, we deeply value transparency and accountability. Unfortunately, we have unintentionally become entangled in something that contradicts our core beliefs. We recognize the ruling by the International Court of Justice, which found that Israel is plausibly committing genocide in Gaza and upholds systems of apartheid and occupation against the Palestinian people.

Mysteryland became part of Superstruct Entertainment, with the intention of enhancing the quality of our festival and ensuring a sustainable future for our event and the communities we serve. From the beginning, Superstruct has guaranteed that we maintain full independence when it comes to programming, artist selection, marketing, and most importantly our values.

In October 2024, a change in ownership took place at Superstruct when its former parent company sold its stake to a new investor: KKR. We had no involvement in this transaction and were only informed once it was finalized. Since then, information has come to light about unethical investments that are fundamentally opposed to the principles we stand for.

While we have no control over the business decisions or financial partnerships made at higher levels of ownership. We want to state this clearly: no ownership structure will ever define who we are or what we stand for. Our direction will always be shaped by our values.

We will continue to use our platform to support and amplify organizations, initiatives, and causes that align with our values, while uplifting the artists, partners, and communities that shape our events. No investor or corporate parent will ever define what Mysteryland represents.

This is an ongoing dialogue, and we’re deeply grateful to everybody who has taken the time to engage with us during this period. We thank you for speaking up and raising your concerns.

Since the beginning of Mysteryland, we have carefully curated our lineups and collaborated with hostingpartners and artists according to our own ethical standards. We remain committed to doing so as we build towards our next festival.

Mysteryland stands with our communities.
